Cheryl studied with Vanessa J. Hooper FIDTA (Hons) ARAD, Chairman of the IDTA Ballet faculty, then progressed into full-time training at the Royal Ballet Upper School, London. Immediately after leaving the Royal Ballet School, she was engaged on a full-time contract by Northern Ballet (formerly Northern Ballet Theatre) where she worked alongside world famous choreographers and dancers such as Birgit Cullberg, Rudolf Nureyev, Alicia Markova, Lynn Seymour, Christopher Gable, Moira Shearer, André Prokovsky, Galina Samsova, and Gillian Lynne (in the BAFTA award-winning production of “A Simple Man”). She danced soloist and corps de ballet roles all over the world in many of the well-known classical ballets, The Sleeping Beauty, Coppélia, Swan Lake, Giselle, Les Sylphides, The Nutcracker, Cinderella and many triple bills.  After qualifying as a teacher in the Cecchetti Ballet Method with Kate Simmons in Warrington, she taught and guested at summer schools in Italy, France and Germany. She was engaged as ballet mistress and assistant to the choreographer on the full-length production of The Sleeping Beauty for the Slovenian National Ballet. Cheryl qualified with distinction as a teacher with the Royal Academy of Dance® and ran her own school for 20 years with her husband, a former ballet dancer, choreographer and director. Together they staged and choreographed many full-length productions of the great classical ballets, and her students performed regularly with the resident professional ballet company in Nutcracker and other productions. During this time she graduated with Master’s degree in Dance Science with Wolverhampton University.

Cheryl is a lifelong learner and is passionate about getting the best out of everyone who wants to dance. She regularly attends professional development courses and applies dance science and medicine research to her own teaching practice, while keeping up to date with current issues in dance education. She was awarded the Safe and Effective Dance Practice Certificate with Distinction and is an Assessor for (SiDI) Safe in Dance International.
